Today was the tour was of Rousse – we did not go. Instead went to Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi towns. These were two really neat places in Bulgaria. Stopped at a town on the way to have refreshments at a hotel then continue on to Veliko Tarnovo which is the second capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
THE highlight was the Naivety Church in Arbanasi. Could not take pictures but the references do have pictures. Has a men’s and woman’s section – is the earliest church in Arabanasi. Totally unlike any other church we have seen. It is very well known for the frescos. The town now consists of only about a 100 houses whereas in the 1600-1700s had over a 1,000.
Had our disembarkation briefing today. So the cruise is coming to an end but with still five more days in Romania.
