Back in Bucharest and time for more wandering to see the sights. We went looking for a Jewish synagogue, the synagogue, in Bucharest. After some time and quite a bit of wandering, we finally found the synagogue. They had a person there whose job was to tell tourists about the synagogue. We were the only ones there for a while and he was very good in his description of the synagogue. Very pretty synagogue – not nearly as large as the one in Budapest but has fairly recently been redone and is beautiful.
Had lunch, did some more sightseeing of buildings looking for museums that were open. But, we have also quickly found out almost all of the tourist destinations are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
This afternoon I walked out to the Botanical Gardens – it was open today. Fairly large grounds. Compare3d to other botanical Gardens I have seen this one was ‘not so hot’. Few flowers – did have lilies, zinnias, hostas and a few other plants. They did have a quite large rose garden! The hothouse for palms etc. was closed. Spent about 45 minutes wandering around ere then headed back to the hotel. As was leaving the gardens went by the University Urgent/Emergency care hospital for Bucharest – 12 or 13 floors and looked quite new.
From here it was back to the hotel
