Well – I assume you have been wondering when I would put the final posting for the Bunker Loop house. This is it! All of the pictures have a caption that describes each photo. These were taken about three weeks after we moved in. Since the last posting (29-Oct) a number of things have gone down. We had an initial walkthrough to check the status of the house on 10-Nov. This served for us to talk with the Truland Homes Warranty Manager (Marshall) as to what was done and not done. We expected several items to not be quite completed – there were no real surprises with this walkthrough. I found it quite interesting in that Marshall was quite brutal with the inspection! Not much at all escaped his eye. Truland takes this last inspection away from the construction foreman and gives it to someone who had no part in the construction process. They can look at the house with an unbiased eye which he did. So we left him with a list of items to be corrected before the final walk-through and closing scheduled 01-Dec. The primary issues (80%) were places where the painting was not exactly right – i.e. a bump in the paint – redo, not exactly smooth here – redo and so on.
On 11-Nov we took off for Europe for a two-week cruise from Antwerp to Basel – this is available on this website under Travels. Got back on 26-Nov and had the final walkthrough and closing on 01-Dec as scheduled. There were still a few items that had to be fixed but most, from the first walkthrough, had been completed. 02-Dec and 03 Dec we had everything moved into the new house from where we had been. Then came the unpacking, putting things where they belong, rearranging, etc. We finished unpacking, putting things up and getting rid of all boxes by the end of the next week. So pretty much we were moved in and settled by 11/12-Dec. The week of 01-Dec we had new furniture delivered, TV/internet/phone connected, blinds installed and so on. Got the area around the grassed in yard cleared (BIG pile of trash), first fruit trees, camellias, hydrangeas planted by the week of 14-Dec. Will do some more plantings in the next month or so. Tricia got the usual thingies that make a house a home and fixed them up. So by the 16-Dec, we had our first guests over for bridge and on the 20th had family over for the blessing of the house by our preacher.
So, bottom line we are now all settled in and as in any house things will get rearranged as we go forward from Christmas to Madis Gras, and on. We are in settled and quite happy with the digs. One really neat item that Truland has is their warranty process. Anything in year one we contact them through their warrant portal and they come fix it no questions asked. Had thermostat go out on the water heater – fixed that day, doorbell ringer not dinging properly – replaced the next day, found a couple of places the painters had overlooked – not a problem. Truland builds a great house provides great support – strongly recommend them for what, I am sure, will be a great house as we go forward.
So this is it, the final posting of the Bunker Loop House – any time any of you want to come visit – COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!
